Here’s what went down at the latest #AppleEvent.
Today was a very special day for the mobile world with Apple hosting their most anticipated event in the history of time.
This time last year, we were all utterly blown away on the day that Apple met 5G on their iPhone 12 series.
The thing is, in true Apple fan fashion, all we’ve been able to think about since is how Apple could possibly top this.
The brand are renowned for trying to be bigger and better than the previous year, so it’s fair to say that the buzz around today’s event was huge.
Apple unveiled new Apple Watch updates and a redesigned iPad and iPad mini, but there was only one thing that we were interested in hearing about.
It brings us great pleasure to say that we’re not at all disappointed. Apple have unveiled not one, but four brand new iPhones.
Introducing the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and the iPhone 13 mini.
Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, the iPhone 13 series may follow the same naming system as the iPhone 12 series, but they boast a whole bunch of features that differ to last year’s devices.
We thought you’d like a roundup of everything you may have missed from the event, so here goes.
The lowdown on iPhone 13.
Where do we even begin folks – we’ll build our way up. iPhone 12 and 12 mini were hugely popular among Apple fans and for good reason too.
We’ve now been presented with their successors – iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13. They’re the mobiles that have been keeping us all going through lockdown and they’re finally here finally here.
If UK weather lives up to our miserable expectations, it’s going to be a long, cosy and rather wet few months – the perfect weather for Disney+ and Netflix binges.
Boasting 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch brighter, Super Retina XDR displays with a peak brightness of 1200 nits, both iPhones have come at a perfect time.
iPhone 13 mini gives you cinematic quality content on a device that slides into the pocket of even your tightest skinny jeans while the iPhone 13 gives you all the display you need to stream away.
Don’t even get us started on the design, we won’t ever stop! Both iPhones boast aerospace aluminium bands that make them a dream to hold while the ceramic shield front give them that tough exterior that we all know and love.
Throw in an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance and you’ve got a set of iPhones that are perfect for the harsh British weather or more clumsy Apple fans.
We’ve got an all new design element people, the rear camera has a diagonal position that we’ve not yet seen yet and we must say – we’re absolutely here for it.
You can enjoy yours in stunning pink, blue, midnight, starlight or (PRODUCT)RED.
We’re approaching cosy season, what with Halloween, Bonfire Night and of course Christmas all very much on their way.
With all the pumpkin spiced lattes and huge holiday displays, there will be plenty to take photos of.
Luckily for you, iPhone 13 and 13 mini have a dual camera system that will blow your socks off.
Take advantage of the 12MP wide and ultra-wide lenses and enjoy night mode across both. Poor lighting is no longer an obstacle for your mobile photography.
We all love a good photo but it’s videography that’s taken the spotlight here. Introducing cinematic mode.
This feature really brings dimension to story telling and will have you creating award-worthy content with a simple tap.
Cinematic mode will hold focus on a subject, even when they’re moving around the screen. It will then anticipate when someone new is entering the frame and will automatically shift focus.
If you want to shift the focus yourself, simply tap on the screen and your camera will take care of the rest. Impressive right? We know.
Now we know it’s not all about what’s on the outside guys, so let’s take a look inside. The inside of both iPhones have been revamped to make room for a bigger battery, new technology and the A15 Bionic chip.
That’s right – a whole new chipset. Built with 5 nanometre tech and 15 billion transistors, you can download content on the fly, stream better and enjoy more responsive gaming.
Plus, with more 5G bands than iPhone 12, you can enjoy faster speeds in more places than ever before.
Now, onto that bigger battery. iPhone 13 mini gains 1.5 hours and iPhone 13 gains 2.5 hours of extra battery life, compared to last year’s iPhone 12 devices.
With up to 512GB of storage, there’s no downside to the new iPhone 13 devices.
One for the pros.
The iPhone 13 pro line up seriously pushes possibilities and boasts Apple’s most pro design. Like iPhone 13 and 13 mini, the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max feature Apple’s tough Ceramic Shield exterior, making accidental drops no match.
They perfectly master the art of being both tough and terrifically beautiful. The surgical grade steel bands make them a delight to hold in your hand while the matte glass compliments the colours perfectly.
Will you choose graphite, gold, silver or all new sierra blue? Like iPhone 13 and 13 mini, both Pro models feature an IP68 water and dust resistance, enhancing that peace of mind you get by simply owning one.
iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max feature a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display with 25% higher brightness that last year’s Pro models.
But that’s not all folks. Pro Motion is an all-new display feature that responds dynamically to match your content and refreshes anywhere from 10Hz to 120Hz.
For those moments when you don’t need to use a higher refresh rate, your iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max will use a lower one and preserve your battery for more important matters.
Now onto the biggest news of the whole event. iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max feature Apple’s biggest camera advancement EVER.
Featuring a telephoto, ultra-wide and wide lens, Apple are about to seriously change the game.
With 3x optical zoom on the ultra-wide lens and a 120 degree field of view, you’ll be seeing almost as much as you would with your own eyes.
With less noise, faster shutter speed and night mode on all lenses, you’ll be capturing moments that look like something in the Louvre.
Your photos will be more in style than ever before, courtesy of photographic styles. A new feature that allows you to select from one of four default styles to bring effects that go above and beyond filters.
We all know that us pros need more battery life, what with all of our professional activity going on.
iPhone 13 Pro Max offers up to 2.5 hours more of battery life while the iPhone 13 Pro offers up to 1.5 hours extra – giving you more time with your mobile.
We heard rumours circulating about a 1TB storage option on iPhone 13 but we have to admit, even we were a little apprehensive about this possibility.
1TB is huge, so reservations about this were more than understandable. However… iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max have 1TB of storage.
That gives you more than enough room to store all of your photos, music, and other bits of data that you might’ve struggled to keep all in one place before.
Wave goodbye to forking out for extra cloud storage people!
So, when can I get mine?
Great question. You can pre-order iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max from 1pm on 17thSeptember and get it as soon as 24th September.
