The tournament is in full swing, and whether you’re backing England or simply following the biggest moments as they unfold, Apple Sports makes it easier than ever to stay on top of every match.
Available free on iPhone, Apple Sports delivers real-time scores, live updates, stats and personalised tracking for teams and fixtures — all in a fast, simple app built for sports fans on the move.
How to add Apple Sports to your Lock Screen.
Getting live World Cup updates directly on your Lock Screen takes a couple of minutes, and once it’s done you’ll get real-time scores without even opening your phone.
Start by making sure you have Apple Sports installed on your iPhone and that you’re signed in. Open the app and follow your favourite teams or the World Cup competition so it knows what to track.
Next, head into a live or upcoming match inside the app and tap to enable Live Activities when prompted. This is what powers the Lock Screen updates.
To double-check everything is enabled:
- Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode
- Scroll to Allow Access When Locked
- Make sure Live Activities is switched on
Once that’s set, your iPhone will automatically show live match info on the Lock Screen during games — including scores, key events, and timing updates in real time. You’ll also see the same activity appear on Apple Watch if you use one.
Stay on top of every World Cup moment.
Beyond live scores, you can track the full competition through a dedicated tournament bracket, explore tactical line-ups before kick-off, and stay across fixtures and results with widgets across iPhone, iPad and Mac.
For deeper insight, one-tap access to Apple News brings match reports and analysis, while Apple TV integration helps you jump straight into live broadcasts.
From early group games to dramatic knockout moments, Apple Sports keeps you connected to every stage of the tournament so you never miss what matters.
