Gyms closed near you? Or not ready to go back and take the risk? Apple have got you covered with its new Fitness+ service.
Apple Fitness+ has launched and we're so excited about it! COVID has presented countless hurdles in the way of day-to-day life, including the closure or gyms.
Your local gym may even still be closed , or you might just not feel comfortable being in that environment just yet. Whatever it is, Apple have got you covered.
Fitness+ was announced earlier this year and is finally making its way to our Apple Watches and iPhones. In a nutshell, it works like Peloton - the live and interactive bike workouts that you’ve probably seen advertised on the TV. But Fitness+ isn’t limited to cycling.
The different workouts will be guided so you’ll have your own PT right in your living room or garden. There’s something for everyone, whether you like an equipment heavy session or something a little lighter – you’ll find what you’re looking for with Fitness+.
Missed the Fitness+ announcement event earlier this year? Here’s a quick summary.
The gym means something different to us all. Some of us want to tone up ready for next summer, some of us want to lose weight, some of us do it to stay healthy and some of us do it because it’s good for the mind.
There’s no right or wrong way to exercise and we all like to work on different things. That’s what’s so good about Fitness+, there’s literally a workout for everyone. The program will launch with 10 workout types: high-intensity, interval training, strength, yoga, dance, core, cycling, treadmill, rowing, and mindful cooldown.
These workouts will all offer different levels, so don’t panic! No matter what pace you like to exercise at, Fitness+ will offer something perfect for you.
When the COVID impact hit us hard back in March and the gyms closed, everyone raced to get hold of equipment to turn their homes into a fitness wonderland. We’re not sure if there’s any left on the shelves, but the good news is, many Fitness+ workouts don’t require any gear at all.
The treadmill, rowing and cycling workouts will be doable with almost any bike, treadmill, or rowing machine. Might be time to take your clothes off the handle-bars on your exercise bike and shake the dust off your running shoes.
You can watch each workout on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV. If your manic lifestyle of juggling work, cooking tea, and watching the kids mean you dread trying to squeeze a workout in, then this is perfect – your little ones can join in!
How does this wizardry work?
This is all powered by the Apple Watch, meaning that to use Apple’s latest fitness whizz, you’ve got to have one. It specifically has to be a Series 3 or newer so that you can pair it with your iPhone and get your heart rate pumping.
How much will this cost you?
Apple’s new Fitness+ is available for £9.99 a month, which is so much cheaper than the price of a good gym membership these days. The best bit? The regular Apple Fitness+ plan, lets up to 6 family members access the same subscription.
Apple have got a special little treat for you and are offering customers who buy an Apple Watch Series 3 (or newer) three months of free Fitness+. While existing Apple Watch owners can get a free 1 month trial.
