Looking for a new phone? Make sure you're backed up.
Black Friday is on its way, and you might be thinking about getting a new iPhone. There are many things to consider this year.
Which iPhone should I choose? How much storage do I need? Which colour should I buy? Do I need a dual camera or a triple camera?
Before you answer all of these questions, it’s crucial you back your current iPhone up. Our phones contain our lives. Our social media and email accounts, our photos, our contacts and so much more.
When our Black Friday sale goes live, and you get your hands on an epic iPhone deal, you’ll want to make sure your stuff is backed up so you can transfer it all over.
Luckily for you, we’ve got a handy guide to help you discover how to do this quickly and easily.
Introducing iCloud.
iCloud is a magical place exclusively available to iPhone users. The purpose of iCloud is to store all of your important bits and bobs like your endless snaps of the dog, many contacts, your apps and sensitive data too.
If you back all of your data up to iCloud, when you get a new iPhone or something happens to the one you’ve got, you’ll be able to keep all your data with you.
1) Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi.
2) Go to Settings.
3) Tap your name.
4) Select iCloud and then iCloud Backup.
5) Tap Back Up Now.
Make sure you stay connected to your Wi-Fi until the back up is complete, to ensure nothing is missed off.
There’s also a way you can set up automatic backups so your data will be backed up to iCloud every day.
1) Head to Settings on your iPhone.
2) Tap your name at the top.
3) Select iCloud.
4) Choose iCloud Backup.
5) Put your iPhone on charge.
6) Make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi.
7) Ensure your iPhone is locked.
