A weatherman right in your pocket.
We’ve hit January and we imagine you’re making goals and aspirations for the new year ahead.
While you can plan out meals for the week, holidays, your gym schedule and everything in between, one thing you can’t control is the weather.
Weather in the UK is confusing to say the least. It could be cloudy and dry one minute and chucking it down the next.
Some of you may be beyond prepared for the British weather, every time you go out. An umbrella in your bag or a raincoat thrown over your arm perhaps.
Others, like me, dress for the weather they see when they look out of their window. The good news is, thanks to iOS 15, there’s a handy feature that allows your iPhone to alert you when it’s going to rain or snow.
You’ll never have to face the horror of being caught up in a storm again. Here’s how to make the most of this feature.
Time to face the weather.
Before you get started, you’ll want to make sure the weather app has access to your location.
1) Head to Settings on your iPhone.
2) Scroll to Privacy.
3) Tap Location Services.
4) Select Weather.
5) Choose Always.
After you’ve enabled location services, head back to your Weather app and do the following.
1) Tap Options in the right-hand corner.
2) Select the three dots in the upper-right corner.
3) Tap Notifications.
When you’ve done this, a pop-up may appear asking you to allow notifications. If this is the case, just tap continue and then allow.
You’ll be able to choose which locations you want to get notifications for, be it the town where you travel for work or the city you plan on visiting with friends.
To choose certain locations, tap the toggle next to them. When the heavens are about to open and downpour with rain or snow, a notification will appear on your iPhone so you can prepare yourself.
Don’t worry if you have plans to visit somewhere new, you can add a number of locations to your rain and snow list.
Simply follow the above steps but this time select Edit List. Once you’ve found your desired city, click Add.
Fail to prepare and prepare to fail.
Being prepared is easy with this Weather app hack. You’ll now know whether you need your umbrella, wellies or your woolly hat.
Of course, this feature is exclusive to iPhone users, and you may be in the market for a new one. Luckily for you, our January sale has a bunch of unmissable prices on the best from Apple, including the latest iPhone 13.
