You’ll have people wanting you to ignore their calls.

So many of us lead such hectic lives so it’s not always easy to pick our mobiles up every time someone calls. Or for those who lead calmer lives, maybe you simply don’t feel like answering and that’s fine too.

Maybe it’s your mother-in-law calling again about the same thing you’ve discussed eighty times already. Of course, you love her but there’s only so many times you can repeat the same thing.

If you’re an Android user, you’re in luck. You can create your very own custom greeting that’ll soften the blow a little when people reach your voicemail.

Here’s a handy guide that helps you set up your voicemail and create your very own greeting message.

Please leave your message after the beep.

Voicemail seems like such a basic thing to have but there are lots of cool little hacks that you can set up to make it even more fun.

Before you get started, it might be a good idea to make sure you’ve got Voicemail turned on.

1) Head to Settings.

2) Select Phone settings.

3) Tap Voicemail.

4) Turn on Call to Listen.

5) You’ll be prompted to create a PIN here if you haven’t already.

Right now, when people reach your voicemail, they’re greeted with the same annoying message that everyone else uses.

It’s that robotic woman who’s voice makes you never want to make a phone call ever again. We’re not saying you need something funny and quirky, just a simple, ‘hello you’ve reached Paul’s voicemail, leave a message after the tone, thanks!’ will suffice.

But if you’re ignoring calls, it seems only fair to give people a little something to enjoy until you’re ready to give them a call back.

We have a few favourites we’ve dug out from the internet. ‘Sorry I missed your call unless you’re selling something! Please leave a message after the beep.’

Or ‘hi. I am probably home; I’m just avoiding someone I don’t like. Leave me a message, and if I don’t call back, it’s you.’

This will bring you to the screen where you record your custom greeting.

4) Tap on the Microphone icon.

5) You have up to 40 seconds to record your greeting.

6) The app may ask for permission to record, if this occurs select Allow.

7) If you’re happy with your creation, tap Keep.

9) Name your greeting and tap Save.

Fancy a change?

Maybe you recorded your message after a few cheeky glasses of wine, or you’ve decided the thing you thought was so funny at the time is actually not so funny.

Don’t panic, there’s a way you can change your voicemail greeting so you don’t have to deal with the embarrassment that comes with yours any longer!

1) Open the Phone app on your Android device.

2) Press and hold 1 to call your voicemail.

3) Now, enter your PIN and press #.

4) Press * for the menu.

5) Press 4 to change settings.

6) Press 1 to change your greeting.

You get the message.
