iOS 14.5 is set to make life easier for us all during the Coronavirus pandemic.
iOS 14.5 is here and it offers so many advancements and updates that we cant keep up.
We've got a new set of emoji that include a COVID-19 looking vaccine which is super-exciting and will certainly be popular on social media.
One update that we're eager to share with you all is that the new update actually lets you unlock your iPhone while wearing a face mask.
Face masks have become the new norm and as necessary and safe as they are, they're become a bit of an issue with day to day tasks.
Picture this, you’re stood at the front of the queue in Tesco, eagerly trying to use Apple Pay to cover the cost of that night’s dinner and it simply won’t work.
No matter how wide you open your eyes or how hard you glare at your screen, the same message flags up; Face ID not recognised.
Apple have once again come to save the day and their latest iOS 14.5 update includes a major enhancement for using Face ID while wearing a mask. The only small catch is you need to be wearing your Apple Watch or have it close by.
The dynamic duo.
With iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4, your iPhone will now unlock even when you’re wearing a face mask.
We’ve all watched the relationship between your iPhone and Apple Watch blossom over the years, but now it’s levelled up. The dynamic duo will be working together to wave goodbye to your mask problem once and for all.
Face ID on your iPhone will detect that you’re wearing a face mask, whether it’s a generic blue one or a sparkly Hello Kitty one that you borrowed from your daughter, it doesn’t matter.
When it picks up on this, it will use its power of recognition and search for your Apple Watch. Many of us have taken to wearing them wherever we go at the minute, trying to complete our rings and count our steps – after all, what else is there to do?
If you fall into this category or your Apple Watch is nearby unlocked, you’re iPhone will unlock.
If you’re worried about the security side of things, don’t panic. Apple have literally covered all ground and the new update lets you quickly lock your iPhone again, using your Apple Watch.
One thing to bear in mind here is that if you disable the Apple Watch wrist detection feature, this new update won’t benefit you – this has come from Apple themselves!
They keep striving to make things easier for us in this pandemic and they’ve certainly come a long way since their last Face ID update. Back in April when COVID-19 was new and unfamiliar, they made it easier to skip the Face ID prompt.
This got rid of the stress of having to try Face ID several times before being asked to enter your password. iPhone users can now skip straight to the passcode screen and get into their mobile so much faster!
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, iPhone users have been pleading with Apple and Twitter saw an influx of tweets, begging for the mask Face ID feature.
Apple, the people pleasers that they are, have finally answered your wishes.
Apple: the secret superhero.
iOS 14.5 is ready and waiting for you to download it and we can assure you that you won't regret it.
You'll finally be able to see the back of this annoying Face ID problem as we certainly don't see face masks going anywhere anytime soon.
