What is data roaming?
Roaming is just your phone using a foreign network instead of your UK network. This means calls, texts, and data might cost a bit extra if your plan doesn’t already include your destination. Vodafone makes it easy to check and manage, either through the My Vodafone app or online.
Understanding roaming zones.
Vodafone splits the world into zones, and your charges depend on which zone your destination is in.
- Zone A / Euro Roam: Covers 52 European destinations like France, Spain, Greece, Portugal, plus Ireland, Iceland, and the Isle of Man. Most Pay Monthly plans include this automatically.
- Global Roam (Zones A, B & C): 84 destinations including the USA, Australia, Mexico, and Turkey.
- Zone D: 73 extra destinations like Egypt, India, Morocco, Thailand, and the UAE.
- Rest of the World: Far-flung spots like the Maldives and Seychelles.
How to add roaming to your Vodafone plan.
If your Pay Monthly plan doesn’t include roaming in Europe and you don’t buy a pass, you’ll be charged £2.57 per day for calls, texts, and data. To make it easier, Vodafone offers European Roaming Passes:
- 8-day European Roaming Pass: One-off charge of £15. You can use your full plan allowance for calls, texts, and data in 52 European destinations. The pass starts automatically when you arrive. To add it, text 8DAYEUROPE to 40506 or use the My Vodafone app.
- 15-day European Roaming Pass: One-off charge of £20, giving the same access to your plan allowance in the same 52 destinations. Starts automatically when you arrive. Add it by texting 15DAYEUROPE to 40506 or via the app.

Depending on where you’re going, there are a few ways to make sure you’re covered. Some Pay Monthly plans already include roaming in up to 84 destinations, so you might not need to do anything. If your destination isn’t included, you can buy an Extra for your trip, via the My Vodafone app.
