The latest Samsung Unpacked Event was one that we all had in our calendars and if you didn’t, we’re here to unpack it for you.
We’ve been keeping up to date with rumours flying around on the internet and of course, in true Samsung style, all of our expectations were exceeded.
We’re pleased to introduce the Samsung Galaxy S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra. The mobiles boast new technology, fresh design elements and camera advancements so big, they get our Ansel Adams’ senses tingling.
Samsung have given us an all-new, all-incredible Nightography camera. This means you’ll finally have all the kit you need to leave poor lighting in the past.
So, let’s get to it, shall we?
A closer look at their displays.
At first glance, the S22 and S22 Plus look fairly similar. They key difference is their Infinity-O display size.
The S22 measures 6.1-inch while the S22 Plus measures 6.6-inch. Both of the new devices boasts FHD+ resolution. The S22 Ultra boasts a whopping 6.8-inch display with QHD+ resolution.
If you’re after a bigger display with higher resolution, the S22 Ultra is the one to go for. All three new devices boast Vision Booster tech which makes the display so much better.
This means you’ll be able to kick back on your way home from work, on those dark and rainy evenings, and tune into your next episode of Ozark or Friends on Netflix.
Likewise for those rare UK sunny days. Read the latest chapter of your book on your mobile, while you eat triangle shaped sandwiches in the park, all without the glare you hate.
The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus both boast a 120Hz refresh rate too which is ideal for gamers. The catch? You won’t be able to blame any lag or buffering when you lose this time…
The S22 Ultra boasts an adaptive refresh rate which means you can choose when you want to use a 120Hz refresh rate and save power in the times you don’t need it.
Fresh mobiles with fresh designs.
With fresh new mobiles comes a fresh new design and we think you’ll be just as impressed as us.
Unlike their predecessors, all three mobiles feature a glass front and back. Not only does this give the mobiles a more premium looking finish, but it actually provides an added layer of protection.
Gorilla Glass Victus+ is a new design element and the new Galaxy S22 series is the first to feature it.
It provides more support against drops and everyday scratches and scrapes. Throw an IP68 rating for water resistance and you’ve got a mobile that’s both durable and beautiful.
You can get your S22 or S22 Plus in Phantom Black, Phantom White, or new colours, Green or Pink Gold. If you want our opinion, Pink Gold is flawless.
The S22 Ultra brings two fresh new colours too. As well as Phantom Black and Phantom White, you can bag yours in Green or Burgundy too.
Quality camera advancements.
The Galaxy S22 and S22 Plus boast the same incredible camera. The whopping 50MP wide-angle lens allows you to point and shoot with ease.
When the wide-angle lens just won’t cut it, switch to the 12MP ultra-wide lens and you’re certain to never miss a moment of the action. Cropping people out is a thing of the past!
Details are a huge part of our mobile photography. They really bring your subjects to life and with the S22 and S22 Plus, the smallest details can be hugely magnified.
The 12MP telephoto lens features 3x optical zoom, meaning you can get up close and personal without moving a muscle.
Selfies are a piece of cake too. The 10MP front camera is all the equipment you need to get a selfie that slays.
The S22 Ultra takes this up a notch. The whopping 108MP wide-angle really brings a new meaning to detail.
Like the S22 and S22 Plus, this mobile boasts a 12MP ultra-wide lens for those occasions when wide won’t cut it.
We’re back to the details now. The S22 Ultra packs some ultra-good zoom capabilities. We’re not sure if ultra-good works, but we’re rolling with it.
With not one but two telephoto lenses, the possibilities are endless. One lens has 3x optical zoom while the other has 10x optical zoom.
Throw in a 40MP front camera, and you have a lens for every single occasion. Better selfies await you…
Now onto this Nightography camera we were talking about. Lighting is everything to photography – many of you will know this.
There’s no reason that your photos have to suffer when the lighting isn’t on your side. The S22, S22 Plus and S22 Ultra have this Nightography camera.
This epic tech upgrade allows the biggest pixel sensor to enlarge pixels and pull in light. Super Clear Glass dials down lens flare, so every photo you take comes out clear as day.
Hold on tight.
We’re onto performance now and we urge you to hold on tight. All three of the new devices come packed with speedy 5G and an advanced 4nm processor.

On the subject of gaming, both the S22 and S22 Plus pack 8GB of RAM. This means gamers can enjoy silky smooth visuals without added compromise to their skill.
Both come with two different storage options: 128GB or 256GB. You’ll be able to store all of your files in one place, without worrying about running out of room.
The S22 Ultra boasts a whole array of storage options, each that bring different RAM. You can get yours with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM. You can also enjoy 12GB of RAM with both 256GB and 512GB of storage.
Breaking news though people. Samsung have matched Apple’s 1TB of storage and brought their own 1TB variation on the S22 Ultra.
The S22 Ultra has another key, notable difference - it is S Pen integrated. Every single stroke feels as natural as ink. Whether you're using it for work or play, it's practical in every way.
While all three mobiles support super-fast charging and wireless power-share, they all have different battery capacities.
The S22 boasts a 3700mAh battery, the S22 Plus a 4500mAh and the S22 Ultra a 5000mAh. All three are built to last but for those of you who have your mobile somewhat glued to your hand, we’d recommend opting for the S22 Plus or S22 Ultra.
