Bringing A grade features for an A grade price.
The Galaxy A family is proof that you don’t need to break the bank to get a taste of what Samsung has to offer. It’s known as the budget-friendly series and is loved for the fact that it always delivers expensive features for a not-so-expensive price.
The Samsung Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event saw the release of three new additions to the Galaxy A family: the Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72. Sadly, the UK won’t be seeing the A52, but the other two devices are ready and waiting for you.
We thought you might like a low down on what these phones have to offer and just who they’re perfect for. Both phones are around the £420 mark and we can’t express how rare it is to be getting these features for under £500.
These new additions are perfect for those people who want to experience flagship features but are on a tighter budget. They’re a great example of showing that a lower price doesn’t always mean lower quality.
Photography is often an expensive hobby to have what with all the gear you’ve got to buy. But it doesn’t always have to be pricey, especially when you’ve got the Galaxy A52 5G or A72 in your hand.
Both of these phones offer four incredible camera lenses that let you get creative with your photography. They both have an ultra-high resolution 64MP main lens that makes those point and shoot shots a piece of cake.
This lens also offers optical image stabilisation which lets you leave blurry photos in the past and helps stabilise your shots to keep them looking smooth.
Impressive ultra-wide lenses are something we see on big devices like iPhone 12 or Samsung Galaxy S21 and yet Samsung have delivered it on both of these more budget-friendly devices.
With a 123 degree field of view, the 12MP ultra-wide lens adds more perspective to everything you shoot and lets you see almost as much as you would with your own eyes.
They both have a 5MP macro camera that brings out the finer details and applies a natural bokeh effect to your shots – this is some serious studio stuff, without the studio price.
The final lens on the Galaxy A52 is the 5MP depth and is for those who like to dive in deep, headfirst into their photography – even the amateurs will be able to get a hang of this one.
The A72 differs slightly in its fourth lens and gives you steady close-ups, with a 3x optical zoom, curtesy of the impressive 8MP telephoto lens.
If you’re looking for a phone that brings you into the spotlight, both the A52 and A72 are perfect options. The 32MP selfie cam snaps clear, high-resolution photos no matter what time of day it is!
Both the Galaxy A52 and A72 boast world class designs that are both easy on the eye and comfortable to hold in your hand. Their sleek curves fit right in your palm, while the minimal camera housing gives you more of a view.
Normally with budget smartphones, you get basic colour choices, but Samsung have always been one to surprise us. Both of these models are available in Awesome Violet, Awesome Black, Awesome Blue, and Awesome White – you’re really getting your money’s worth.
We’re quick to just accept how good a phone’s display tech is by what the big brands tell us. They might stick the word incredible in front of it and we’re sold.
What we can tell you is that these two new phones have insane display perks that’ll have you feeling like you’ve got your own home cinema. Maybe ever so slightly dramatic, but they’re both great phones for streaming, gaming or just having a nosey on your socials.
The Galaxy A52 5G has a stunning 6.5-inch Infinity-O Display with Full HD+ Super AMOLED resolution – that was a mouthful. Essentially this means you’ll get vibrant details with a peak brightness of 800 nits so you can catch up on your TV series, day, or night.
The Galaxy A72 gives you just that little bit more for your money and boasts a 6.7-inch Infinity-O, Full HD+, Super AMOLED display. Again, this phone has a peak brightness of 800 nits giving you that same impressive clarity, but on a larger scale.
Both phones pack Eye Comfort Shield which lowers blue light and reduces any restrictions on how long you stare at your screen. You can finally wave goodbye to square eyes and use your phone until your heart is content.
When it comes to performance, we think it’s standard to say that the less we pay, the worse we expect it to be. Luckily for you, both the new Galaxy A additions exceed all expectations.
The A72 excels when it comes to battery performance and packs a whopping 5000mAh battery that is not only powerful but smart.
The A52 5G has a slightly smaller battery and boasts a 4500mAh battery, which is still a huge amount of power that’ll get you through the day.
Both phones do have the advantage of AI power management which detects and adjusts to your mobile usage habits so you can save your juice for the important stuff.
If you do start to run a little low, the 25W Super-Fast charging will get you boosted up in no time.
Gamers will want to tune in about now as we’re about to talk all things RAM. Both phones feature an advanced Octa-core processor and up to 6GB RAM. The combination of the two make for seamless and more-responsive gaming in an instant.
Of course, there’s an elephant in the room that we haven’t yet mentioned. The Galaxy A52 5G of course packs 5G tech – the clue is in the name folks. This is without a doubt the most impressive bit of everything we’ve spoken about.
5G phones are known for being pricey and we understand why. They deliver faster downloads, better streaming, and top gaming so the fact that the Galaxy A52 5G offers this tech for under £500 is pretty mind-blowing.
They get an A from us.
Not everyone has the cash to splash on a big fancy phone, or in some cases not everyone wants to.
These phones show that you don’t need to fork out loads of money to get flagship features and they boast the best of what Samsung has to offer.
Both phones are now available to buy in the UK and the last thing we want you to do is miss out on everything they deliver.
